PLASTOBOND
Polymeric Bonding Agent

PLASTOBOND is a polymer based specially formulated bonding agent. It has the capacity to tremendously strengthen the bond between old and new concrete. Usually it is necessary to hack the R.C.C. members like beams, columns and ceilings in order to give sufficient bonding between the original concrete surface and the new plaster or concrete. Since the mother concrete is very hard, it is very difficult to hack the surface manually resulting in poor hacking. Even after hacking, the new plaster/concrete does not adhere properly and evenly and may come out due to insufficient bonding. This is especially in the case of ceilings where the plaster may be pulled down due to the gravitational force.

Application of PLASTOBOND eliminates the need of hacking the old concrete and provides the necessary interfacial bonding strength. It is non-ionic in character therefore, not releasing ions like sulphates and chlorides that are harmful to the reinforcement bars. It also improves the yield of the mortar in case of plastering work by minimizing the rebound loss.

PROCEDURE
  • Clean the surface thoroughly of all loosely held particles, dirt, oil, grease using a stiff wire brush. After cleaning, moisten the surface
  • On the moist surface, apply a single coat of PLASTOBOND by brushing or spraying. Ensure that no part of the surface is left uncovered.

  • Immediately after application of PLASTOBOND, thoroughly clean the brushes or sprayers.

COVERAGE
The coverage will depend upon the porosity of the substrate. On a smooth surface approximate coverage is 100 to 120 sq. ft per litre.

SHELF LIFE
12 months if stored in cool conditions in a sealed container.

PACKING
PLASTOBOND is available in 5 and 20 kg plastic carboys.
