PLASTOPOL EP
Polymeric Cement Mortar Additive

PLASTOPOL EP is a multipurpose polymeric admixture for use in repair mortars, flooring screeds, renderings, pavings, and other cementitious mixes where it wholly or partially replaces the water content of the mix. Its addition to cementitious mixes increases toughness, flexural strength, tensile strength and reduces permeability, thereby increasing resistance to wetting and erosion and greatly enhancing the durability.
• PLASTOPOL EP is an alkaline polymer
• PLASTOPOL EP improves adhesion of cement mortars
• PLASTOPOL EP improves water impermeability of mortars and prevents cracking
• PLASTOPOL EP increases tensile strength and flexural strength
• PLASTOPOL EP improves durability of coatings

APPLICATIONS
» Repair Mortars
PLASTOPOL EP should be used as an additive in mortars for leveling uneven concrete surfaces, flooring screeds and interior renderings as it improves the adhesion of the mortar, increases durability and gives a better finish. Also include in mortars for repairing damaged concrete floors, beams, columns, slabs, foundations, etc.

» Finish Mortar Coatings
When PLASTOPOL EP is added to finish mortars it gives a highly abrasion resistant and non-cracking coating especially useful for industrial floors, in water tanks, concrete ducts, gutters and in building construction.

» Flooring Screeds
Screeds of thickness 8-20 mm can be used for floors. PLASTOPOL EP increases the durability of the screed by giving it higher flexural strength, better abrasion resistance, lower dirt pick up, and a crack free surface with improved water impermeability.

» Renderings
PLASTOPOL EP improves the water impermeability of rendering layers applied in tanks, basins, foundations, water treatment plants, and also on brick work, especially on silos. It can also be added to renderings made from lime in order to improve workability. » Leaking Pipe Joints
In order to seal the leakages in prestressed concrete pipes PLASTOPOL EP should be added to the mortar.

» Rehabilitation and Retrofitting of Heritage Structures

» Repairing Finished Concrete Elements and Artificial Stones

» Renovating Stairs Made From Concrete/Stone

» Repairing Surface Damage
For replacing broken edges, filling voids and rock pockets, for making high quality, durable coatings in concrete pipes, PLASTOPOL EP is used as an additive.

» In Non Shrink Grouts for Foundation Bolts, Voids in Concrete

PROPERTIES
When a standard mix of 5 kg Cement + 15 kg quartz sand + 1 kg PLASTOPOL EP [with a corresponding reduction in water] is used it is found that :
TENSILE STRENGTH :  50% increase after 28 days
FLEXURAL STRENGTH :  80% increase after 7 days     100% increase after 28 days
ADHESION :  Good adhesion to concrete, brick, steel and glass
CHEMICAL RESISTANCE :  Good resistance to mild acids, alkalies, sulphates

PROCEDURE
1. Clean the surface off all loosely held particles, dirt using a stiff wire brush.
2. Wash the surface with water to remove dust and fill up holes and repair joints, etc.
3. For preparing PRIMING / BONDING SLURRY mix 1 part of PLASTOPOL EP to 1 part of Portland cement. Apply one coat of     this slurry, after wetting of absorbent surfaces, as bonding coat. The subsequent coatings should be applied within     10 – 15 mins i.e. before the bonding coat becomes hard set.
4. For use in mortars for RENDERINGS, SCREEDS, and REPAIRS : It is recommended that 1 kg of PLASTOPOL EP be added     for every 5 kg of cement. PLASTOPOL EP may be increased by 5 % depending upon the application. Cement and quartz   sand should be premixed with water before addition of PLASTOPOL EP which is then mixed for a maximum of 2     minutes.

PRECAUTIONS
»  PLASTOPOL EP is not harmful. But any accidental spillage or splash on the body must be thoroughly washed with     water immediately. Wear protective goggles while mixing slurry.
»  All implements should be washed with soap and water. Hardened deposits should be mechanically removed.

PACKING
PLASTOPOL EP is available in 5, 20 and 50 kg carboys.
