RUSTOFF
Rust Remover and Passivator

RUSTOFF is a sulphate and chloride free liquid, which functions not only as a rust remover but also passivates the surface, preventing further rusting. The corrosion of reinforcement bars is a serious problem commonly faced by civil engineers. The steel bars when rusted expand and occupy a larger volume, thereby, pushing the surrounding concrete. This force exerted by the rusted reinforcement bars causes the concrete to crack.

Further, water seepage takes place through these cracks causing greater rusting of the reinforcement bars and spalling of the concrete. The rusted reinforcement bars have lower strength and if further rusting is not prevented in time it may lead to the collapse of the entire structure. Thus, it is very essential to remove rust from the reinforcement bars and treat the bars to prevent further rusting.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
  • » Remove the loose rust by means of wire brushing or chipping, depending on the extent of rusting. The rusted surface    could be corroded reinforcement steel bars or M.S. pipelines or any other M.S. structure.
  • » Brush apply sufficient quantity of RUSTOFF on to the affected metal surface. After 30 minutes, the rusted metal   surface will turn from reddish brown to the original blackish non rusted colour. This is due to the passivation    reaction caused by RUSTOFF.
  • » Now apply an additional protective coating of PLASTOPOL FP.

COVERAGE
The actual coverage will depend upon the degree of rusting of the surface. On a relatively smooth corroded M.S. surface, the coverage is 70 to 80 sq. ft per litre.

PACKING
RUSTOFF is available in 5 and 20 kg plastic carboys

SHELF LIFE
12 months if stored in cool conditions in a sealed container.
